"coral" 2014→s/s
In this design, the organic shape of coral is expressed by jacquard weaving with coarse yarn. I drew the coral as if I were picking it up from the beach so as not to shape it too much.
I used a slightly knotted yarn called "bouclé" for this weaving. One of the pleasures of this weaving is to make the yarn fit the pattern as well as to draw the pattern. Using yarn to create textiles out of trees, flowers, birds, and other natural phenomena and sceneries offers infinite possibilities, and my spirit of exploration never ends.
This design "coral" is now also used for summer blankets and throws. We are happy to see that the textile used for clothes is spreading to other designs, as if the design is growing.
