TSUGU minä perhonen

TSUGU
This simple Japanese word conveys many meanings.
Depending on what kanji character we associate with the sound, it can mean to pass on or inherit, to pour, to join or piece together, to tell, or to come after, so on...
When people and people, people and things, eras and generations connect, we feel the phenomenon of “tsugu.”
The starting point of minä perhonen’s creations is a single drop of imagination or thought. These, through materials and the labor and passion of people, connect to design, and are eventually released into the vast ocean of society.
A design becomes the seed for the next idea, creating a cycle of living alongside the creator’s renewed passion. Daily new endeavors connect to future techniques, and the possibilities for expression grow infinitely.
The ultimate goal of design is to create joy and convenience for people and society, and to relieve anxiety and inconvenience.
We hope that diverse designs will create a chain of “passing on” (tsugu), spreading like ripples and becoming a hopeful cycle for society.
Finally, we sincerely hope this exhibition becomes an opportunity for everyone to envision the future environment of craftsmanship that will be passed on to generations to come.
